Question:
I already workout regularly, will this still help me.
Answer:
Even if you have worked out regularly you will still find benefit from this
program. More than likely there are still aspects of your training that are
neglected and you will find some new exercises to incorporate into your routine.
I see guys in the gym all the time who have worked out for years but still
do exercises incorrectly or could use modifications in their routine. You
should be able to start with the more advanced exercises but still be careful
with anything new.
Question: I have great driving distance (300+yds) but my putting stinks. How
can this program help me?
Answer:
An Air Force Academy study showed 30% improved putting skills after an 11
week resistance program including core rotation. Putting requires good control.
Even small imbalance can affect your alignment. Good stability and strength
will provide a more controlled and consistent stroke.
Question: I'm a decent golfer but about 40 lbs overweight. Will I lose weight
on this program?
Answer:
There are several factors that go into losing weight but basically you want
to burn more calories than you take in. Assuming you don't exercise now then
adding 3 workouts a week should make a difference. Of course watching your
diet would help. Strength training is a must for weight loss. You could also
add some interval training on your off days to really boost your metabolism.
Question: How long does it take to become limber enough to see a difference?
Answer: Everyone is different. But there is no doubt that by staying with this program you will see a measurable difference within 3 to 4 weeks. But the longer you stay with the program the better the results will be.
Question: Can anyone do this or is it possible I am beyond help?
Answer: No one that I have met is beyond getting something benefitial out of this program. Will everyone be hitting the ball 300 yards? Probably not. But what we are talking about here is getting the best performance out of you. Now isn't that worth some effort?
Question: I am 65 years old and I have had back surgery. I love the game of golf but just don't seem to last more than a few holes.
Answer: Yes, but you need to answer a few more questions. Was it a fusion? Are you limited by fatigue or soreness or pain? If by fatigue, this program will definitely help by building strength and stamina and increasing mobility to make you more efficient. If by pain, then we need to find out why. See the question below. I recommend you see a physical therapist first if you are having pain, otherwise proceed with the program gradually using the spine sparing versions. You also may want to adapt a swing with less twisting. Of course, you will probably not drive as far but you will have a lot less stress on your back.
Question: Will this help my lower back pain?
Answer: Yes, probably. Back pain is very individual based. I recommend you see your doctor and physical therapist first to identify the problem and get it corrected. That being said, these exercises are designed to strengthen the muscles of your spine and increase your flexibility and mobility. All of these factors can help improve your LBP. Don't perform any exercises that increase your pain and stick with the safe spine versions (no low back twisting). Check back for our upcoming module on beating and preventing back pain.
Question: How may reps of each exercise should I do to get maximum value fromt he program?
Answer: We suggest that you start out with 5 each and gradually work up to 15 to 20. But don't push it. You are better off gradually increasing your number of reps since the goal here is to improve for a lifetime and not just the next golf round.
