Surviving the Start of the Season

Description: How to be prepared for the beginning of the golf season.
Whether your a fan of Dancing with the Stars or not you have probably heard about the many injuries the stars have suffered the past two seasons. I think the count is at least 4. With some pretty serious injuries. Have you wondered why this might be happening? I have a theory. You have a group of people who have not been very active or at least not in this type of activity and then you have them do several hours of work a day. Their bones, ligaments, muscles or tendons just are not use to the stress and fail. You may wnder what this has to do with golf but think about it. Many of you have'nt golfed in months and probably have done little other exercise but your going to go out on the first nice day and play for four hours. Hopefully not everyday but probably enough that it could eventualy lead to injury. To avoid early season injury you need to gradually prepare your tissue to handle the repeated loads golf puts on them. Starting a specific exercise program that loads progressively loads these tisuues makes them stronger. Main areas to focus on are your low back, knees, and shoulders. Start with a good base program and progress to more golf specific exercises. Don't forget to work thoracic spine mobility.
